My friend and I rescued about 300 tadpoles from a pool liner before the pool was to be refilled. The oldest of the tadpoles have started morphing in to froglets.
But a few of our tadpoles are bloating with air so much that they can't swim right and they look like small baloons. They aren't dying but they can't be comfortable like that. I was told to pop the bubbles under their skin but they keep coming back. Any suggestions?
Also we have some froglets that appear to have legs that only work at the hip joint. They can't hop or anything. Their legs are straight and don't bend at the knee. My friend has seen these in her batch, and I wondered what might cause that? MBD?
But these frogs might have some genetic problems since they were born in a chemical rich environment...I'm not sure.
But if anyone has any ideas, I'd love to keep more from ending up like this.
