I was just curious, has anyone caught their Red-eyed Crocodile Skinks in the act of breeding? I caught mine the other morning and got a poor photo. It looked like one of those Bigfoot pics you see from time to time. It was hard because their mister was running and I was triing to get it through the top screen or glass.
I am of the understanding that Females guard the nest and care for babies for awhile... months or even a couple of years after having them?
They have a enclosure with a 1/3 water side with waterfall, live plants and vines. Has anyone ever seen their Skinks... I guess I would say bait food? The male shimmies out the vine like a cat moving out a branch to catch a bird. Then he sticks his paw in the water and wiggles his toes. When fish comes to investigate. He dives in after them. They also dive from the waterfall. The Female prefer's to try and sneak up from the bank. The plants usually give her away and the fish scatter.
I am interested if anyone else has simular expeiences with these animals. I bought mine maybe 5 years ago and was told to keep them in a 5 gal tank on damp newspaper. I'm not the most knowledgable. But I didn't see that working.
