Will using iodine on a turtle's shell seriously effect it if it's the wrong type of iodine? I had a seriosly sick turtle that'd died just recently and I wonder if I was to blame. I put regular anti-bacterial iodine on it's shell and three days later it passe!

If it was my fault-and the wrong kind of iodine-would it have caused respiratory failure or poisoning? I found the poor critter gasping as if having a pneumatic illness. Yet another turtle I'd had recenlty died the same way and that without me using iodine.
