I would use belly heat. You may have problems getting the substrate temps to what you need with back heat. I bought a Commercial Rack made from PVC with back heat and I could never get upper 80s on the warm side.

Keep that in mind.

geckos take in heat from their bellies. I've never heard of them being "burned" from this.
