I haven't kept any for a few years, but I sometimes used UVB, sometimes I didn't. In both cases, my animals did well.

I've spoken with Scott Pfaff at the Riverbanks Zoo, which has a tremendous collection along with great breeding success, and he told me they put UV on all of their Uroplatus, but I can't remember if he specified UVB. I've honestly never heard of anything other than UVB in regards to reptile lighting, though.
