I would recommend starting with a different species of snake (for example, corn snake, ball python, etc...). Candoia tend to be nippy and can be a pain to get feeding (depending on your source of animal).
Personally I feel like Candoia are snakes better suited for upper level beginners or people with a moderate level of experience.
