I think my experience hatching eggs made me cocky. Last year my Schneider's skink laid two eggs and I checked them every day and made absolutely sure that the moisture on the surface of the deli cup never went beyond the finest mist. This time around I have been airing out the incubator (a water-filled cooler with an aquarium heater) every day but only checking on the egg itself every few days. I think the moisture built up too much because today when I checked the egg it looked deflated and brownish. Boo! Of course I chided myself greatly and was ready to slit it open... but one thing I noticed was that there was no odor at all, which I would have expected if it were dead. I believe if this egg hatches out it will be a miracle of miracles. I have heard of some pretty bad looking eggs hatching out. What was the worst-looking egg you've had that actually hatched out?
