HEllo I see these snakes constrict when they defend themselves is this common for them to have the ability and power to constrict when they are caught by apredator? I have not seen garter snakes or indigo snakes do this. Rat snakes, king snakes and gopher snakes do it also when caught by a predator i was shocked that racers and coachwhips do it also as both of these snakes do not use constriction to kill they prey. BUt the fact that they can use constriction on predators means that these 2 snakes have the ability constrict just as good as a rat or king if they wanted to?

first that is a blue heron with a racer i have seen racers wrap around heron necks many times

but here this snake was so powerful it was able to hold the hawk down and stop the hawkrom killing it, usually hawks kill even large rat snakes but this racer used its ability to constrict to save its life well done for the racer!
