Hi, I think you answered your own question, which makes it that much easier!
If your shoes come into contact with either the other animals or their scent, that could be the reason, or possibly the leather, if that`s what they`re made from (or colour).
How is the monitor doing now, are you feeding from tongs, and beginning to gain his/her acceptance that you`re not a threat?
