chlorechis subtrate

texanherp Feb 06, 2006 12:37 PM

I have recently purchaced a pair of atheris chlorechis and i have them in small rubber maid containers with plastic coated hangers running through it. I have a mix of reptibark and coconut fiber for the substrate. I was told that the fiber alone would mold if kept moist. I have heard that chlorechis were very suseptalbe to mouth rott by minimal contact with this coconut fiber. If anyone has a better substrate to use let me know. applogies for the prior incomplete post.

i use a plant or two with good air flow. the containers your using are fine if you put holes everywhere. if you can get a good air exchange in the box then any substrate will work good. a good air exchange would be,watering them say in the morning and all the water should be gone by nignt time. i myself use no bottom substrate. i use a plant or two. the plants are in everyway a window into to much water staying around. remember they only want to drink water not breath it all day.

I use orchid bark and it has worked well. I have had no mold problems and my girl spends a fair amount of time on the bark.
