Looking for any advice about a sick wood turtle. Symptoms are some nasal discharge and lack of appetite. Keeping turtle dry and warm with access to a water bowl to drink. Discharge clearing up but when offered live earthworms to eat there was a problem. Turtle showed signs of being hungry by trying to eat the worm but then quickly released it and swam away. Any ideas/suggestions would be helpful.

Go to the a pet store buy tetracyline for fish. Put Your Wood Turtle in water mix tetracyline as you would for fish. I have cleared up at least 60 turtles this way. Seven days and done!
Good luck

Would you elaborate on the strength that you've administered? Any losses that you attribute to the use of tetracycline?

Is this an adult, juvenile, or hatchling? What are the temperatures? Was it in good weight before the illness, and how long has it gone without food? If it was a heavy juvenile or adult before becoming ill, it could go a week or two easily without eating. Keep the water shallow, but make sure it is drinking/soaking often enough. Put it in the water 1x or 2x daily if you suspect he's not getting in himself.

It never hurts to have a vet do a culture of the discharge, if your wallet can take the hit.
