Cal kings...banana, chocolate banana, etc...

Well, I got some help with my other question, thanks, Kerby. Thought I'd ask this rooky one. I know what a chocolate banana is...a banana x hypermelanistic cross. But I don't know what a regular banana is. I don't think it's a morph/mutation, but just a color phase. But what color phase is it...just a king with yellow instead of white? Where did the phase come from? What would a great example of a banana look like (characteristics to look for). I'm seriously thinking about using this phase in my main breeding lines. Thanks for any help.

I believe the name was coined for their "resemblance" to a bruised banana. Obviously some are more bruised
Anyway, that used to be my take and I haven't ever really looked into it further. Some I have had were very dark brown (black) and yellow. While it may well be a natural occurrance in the wild, probably most were man-made when crossing different patterns and colors. The "coastal" line seems to maybe be the founding stock??
Just my very humble opinion.
Surely someone here has the real low-down....

Thanks, Mark. I'm starting to look around to see who has them.

Hi, a friend gave me one of his snakes and told me it was a banana king, and the color pattern on the head reflects that. However, every picture of banana kings that I've seen have shown them white with the black line and splotches while mine is a very dark brown with just a white line and no splotches. Also everywhere i have looked says that they grow to a maximum of 48 inches and mine has already surpassed that. Any info you could give me would be helpful, I'm just trying to clear up some confusion.
