AFRICAN FAT TAIL HELP!

USSF Feb 15, 2006 10:37 PM

My African Fat Tail has stopped eating! I was feeding him crickets but now he wont even eat them if I hold it in front of his face. I wanst able to feed him for 3 days about 2 weeks ago. When I got them for him he ate a few then slowly stopped eating completely. Now I dont think he has eatin for a little over a week. He has gotten a lot skinner and his tail has shriveled up. I hate that he is starving to death like this. You can either reply on here or e mail me at skaumpkaplunk1@yahoo.com just plaese help! I can post pictures if needed.

Hi, I do not have fat tails, but many other lizards, and when ever they refuse to eat and are losing weight/ getting thin it'a a good idea to have them treated as soon as possible for parasites/ worms.

Don't wait long as it sounds like your guy is goign down hill fast. The fact his tail has shriveled, is not good and he can also become dehydrated as well.

I'm sure others who actually have fatties can add something to this, but I would act fast like I said. Hope he hangs in there and perks up fo rya, let us know how he does.

Assuming that all of your husbandry is correct, (heating, etc) the only real thing that can be done, is to take him to a vet ASAP! It has been several day since you have posted, and I am sorry I couldn't get to you sooner, so I hope that you would have done something already. If all you are doing is correct, and your guy is refusing to eat, the only thing left is serious ailment.
