Vietnam lizards...

Nicodemus Feb 23, 2006 09:54 AM

I recently read a book called "Nam-sense". Its about my second cousin's time he spent in Vietnam.

Well in one part, he talks about his unit getting spooked in the knight by what they thought was an ambush. Turns out it was just a bunch of "talking" lizards that sounds like they were saying...ahem..."**** you!".

The only think I could think of was some sort of gekko with their "Geck-Go!" sounds...
I have no idea about the lizards of vietnam.

Anyone have an idea of what these guys were?

I've heard it was the Tokay Gecko, Gekko gekko, with its noisy "Gekk-O" call.

So you may be right.

Indeed, sometimes and somewhere, tokays are called the f... you lizards, because you may understand their call this way.

I figured it was a gecko...it was the only thing I could think of that had a loud "call" that would sound like that...

Again, thanks for the replies...
