AFT gecko question........eating ?

Jennie Mar 06, 2006 12:56 PM

Hello,
Our AFT female gecko is housed in a 10 gal. & only her in it. Kept on paper towels with a hide house also with paper towels. She has an under the tank heater with 90 temp & water dish. I just got concerned the last week because she isn't eating. She is drinking, comes out of the house & walking around at night, laying on the paper towels above her heating pad, & just had a little bit of poop. Two white pieces & 1 little area of black skid poo. She is about 2 yrs. & has been great so far. She is always a big pig & never is there crickets (she is only fed) in her bowl the next day. Now all last week the crickets have been left behind. So all last week....no eating. Any suggestons ?

Thanks,
Jennie

has she been with a male? if not geckos do lay eggs without males but they will be infertile. she may lay an egg or two but that probably is not the case. when they are ready to lay they stop eating. r u sure your heat pad is working? do you have a hide over your heat pad? when was the last time she was treated for parasites? i have been told by many breeders that you should treat your geckos at least once a year for parasites. also you might try raising the temp to 92 but no higher. i have some geckos who just wont eat for a week and then they will start again 9 days later, i also have some that eat 10 crix everynight. alltogether leos and AFTs i have 23 and 5 eggs incubating

Thanks....

I do have her moisture hide house over the heat pad on 1 side & a cave. On the cool end I also have a cave. Heating pad is good & temp about 90/92 with sensor laying where belly would be to check. No males ever with her.
