I wouldnt reccomend using a heat rock for they tend to leave "Hot Spots" on some lizards.

The fence lizard will do much better with a light that it can bask under. Als can do fine at room temp (70's) without any additional heat and if it wants some extra heat it can use the basking light too. So, if you get a basking light (75watt should do it if you have it shining on an elevated basking site) to create a 95-100 degree hot spot for the fence lizard you should be fine. For UV, I'd recommend the zoomed 7.0 or 10.0. If you want a light that produces both heat and UV, you'd have to go with one of the mercury vapor bulbs, but they usually run more than the other two combined and I've had trouble with them burning out after 6 months (I use them for my chuckwallas). A lot of the supplies are much cheaper on-line than they are at the local pet stores. I purchased my last batch of lights from: http://lllreptile.com/
