My AFT died.... :'(

My african fat tailed gecko recently died... We have been feeding him the right crickets we gave him small and larg to see waht ones he liked the best. He wasnt eating at all for two months. Then one day he was realy hyper and tryed to climb the cage and ate a lot of crickets and normally he is always inside his hide sleeping... THen the next morning he was dead... BUt he did all that the night befor. We think he got a dises and then died, but right when he was eating again he died! anyone have any answers?

Its hard to say what happened.

The only times my geckos get really hyper about their food is after they lay eggs.

Im not sure what to tell you other that be careful if you get another gecko, get its fecal samples tested for any diseases it may have.

I agree, it's very difficult to tell someone WHY thier gecko died without know it's history , set up, and have fecal done as our other buddy suggested.
Parasites, can cause death, if not treated can cause them to lose weight and be lethargic, (sleeping alot) as you had said.

Sorry, it's never a good feeling when we lose a pet, hope you feel better soon.
