I feed my Uroplatus pietschmanni snails often at least during the warmer months. I live in Washington State and it gets fairly cold up here during the winter but if you are from a warmer area you can most likely find them year round. Only the females seem to like them though. Never had a male that was interested but the females absolutly love them. Make sure you get them from an area where pesticides are not used.

Here a shot sequence of one of my females eating a snail.

Hey! I live in Washington too!! I live in Auburn. That is an awesome pic. you have there! I read in my book that the females will readily, since they are high in calcium, take them of course they need to be the right size. I was thinking of offering them to my male Henk. All he eats now is crickets, kingworms and an occational silky. Figured he might get board. Where at do you live and have you ever boughten any snails at pet stores?

Thanks for the complements on the photos. Feenie, I live in Arlington right now and I just moved from Port Townsend if you know where those towns are, they are both small. I have never bought snails from a store before, I could always find tons of them so there was never any need to. I don't think I have ever found snails for sale in any pet store I have been in. Nice to see a fellow Washington Uroplatus keeper on the board.

Arlington is a nice little town... Not to far from Canada there are you ! LOL... I think I'll spend some time this weekend combing the fields for some snails.... Sounds like fun huh!? I've never seen any in my yard, but I've seen a ton of slugs!! Ewwww. I wish I had something that would eat those!!
Don't you wish they would have more rep. shows here in the northwest??

I wish you luck on your snail hunt. I'm not sure if it is warm enough for them to be out yet though, I found most of mine in the summer. They like thistle plants, and any plants that have broad leaves so look for them on those. I was lucky enough to live right next to a large field and what I would do was put pieces of cabbage out over night and they would be covered in snails. And yes I agree it would be really nice to have some more and LARGER reptile shows in the northwest. The one in Seattle this fall was ok, there were some cool panther chameleons and a guy there had about 5 CB Uroplatus fimbriatus but other than that I didn't see a whole lot that interested me.
