putting pacman frog in tokay cage

texastrash Apr 05, 2006 03:01 AM

Would it be a bad idea to house a pacman frog with a tokay gecko? I have my tokay in a 40 breeder up on its end and he mainly uses the top, I was thinking he probably wouldnt notice the frog since obveously it would stay on the ground. also the frog is small now (to small for me to even realy concider the move yet) so it will not be able to eat the tokay when/ if i put it in. I have the pacman in its own small tank on my workbench which i kinda like but i think it would be cool to make a vivarium with a few animals in it.
on another note i notice some of you refer to your lizards as tame/handleable is this something I can work on with an adult or is this only possible with young? I dont want to harm or stress him so i usualy just feed him and he bolts if i make quick movements by his cage.

I can pretty much guarantee that if you put that frog in with a tokay, the frog'll wind up toast. In addition to being hungry pretty much 100% of the time, tokays are also very territorial, and have a habit of attacking just about anything that moves that comes into their territory.

About the taming part, most tokays that I've heard about that become tame are bought as babies, and are captive bred. I've got babies on the way, if you're interested.

an adult pacman frog would swallow the tokay.

I'll second that. Pacman frogs and african bullfrogs both don't really have that thing in their brain that tells them when something's too big to swallow. If it moves, it's potential food.

I guess im not going to plan any expencive meals for the tokay as i think he could take him now, but i think your right a full grown pacman could eat my tokay. how much for the hatchlings?

AnimalSquabbles Apr 12, 2006 04:27 PM

hatchlings? are you trying to breed the tokay and the pacman????
