What kind of lizard is this?

KenCasstevens Apr 05, 2006 10:14 AM

Recently someone gave me this lizard, and I have no clue what kind it is. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, and have a nice day.

..probabply female.
They live in hot sandy but not too dry areas in Haiti.
That already depicts their captive needs: Bright lights, sand to bury, hot basking areras...

That would be a red-sided Curly-tail Lizard.

Thank you very much Mike. If I might ask another question: What would make one think it's a female? Thanks.

I don't know much about these lizards, but the Conant/Collins guide says :

Females : Smaller and duller, with a series of about eight dorsal grayish transverse bars, and often with a gray to black spot in each armpit; throat streaked or clouded with dark gray; head-body max 3in.

I have another lizard that someone gave me that I will be posting soon. I have no clue what this one is either. I've had snakes all my life, but I'm clueless with lizards. Thanks again.
