breeding trio giants in 10 gal tank.....

xNeViNx May 13, 2006 10:01 PM

i was at a reptile show a couple months ago,(i just got around to posting this) and i seen a vender that only had gold dust, lined, and giants. they brought the giant set up with them. it was a home made melamine encloser that was the size of a 10 gal tank, stood up verticly. i asked if that was there gold dust cage. they said no, and i looked closer and there they were...3 adult giants. i asked what they were thinking? and that said they were ok. they never had any stress probs, agression probs, nor feeding probs. they're all compleatly happy, and have been housed that way for 3 1/3 years, and produced many eggs for the past 2 years. is it safe to keep an adult trio in a vertical 10 gal enclosure?
thanx

Hello,

Mine are in a home made cage app. 80 gallons, planted with bamboo.
For me 10g is way too small. Sure they could get along but would you have a dog at home and only confine him to his small cage ...

I'm not going to start talking about happiness ... but give them space to ''work with''

I guess its possible to do what they say, but I don't think anyone would argue its best for the geckos.

These guys are either full of sh it or complete idiots. Probably both.

i agree completly with you, i have no idea what they were thinking. i have a SINGLE grandis in a 45 GALLON, how the heck did they get them to breed? did all of them look healthy though?

xNeViNx Jul 04, 2006 09:57 PM

they were honestly some of the healthiest ive ever seen. very nicely shaped bodies, and pretty bulky tails
