What state do you live in?

Bog turtles are a federally listed species. It is illegal to move them across state lines without a permit. It is a violation of the Lacey Act, a federal offense. Say, for instance, you live in Ca. You would need to find captive bred animals from that state. They can never legally be moved without proper permits. They come up for sale at the Daytona show, but the vendors there are only permitted to sell them to Fl. residents. The screening process usually involves showing ducumentation of state residence. Be careful in Ca, two Bog turtles were stolen from Zoo Atlanta and one turned up in a pond on the campus of UC Berkely! Also be careful in Florida, marked research turtles have shown up there on at least one occasion.

Aren't they allowed to cross state lines as part of a household move? Say your job takes you to another state and you take all of your pets with you?

You can try to get a permit to do it, but I don't think that they'll issue it. Without a proper permit, the answer is no.
