Hello,

I've been keeping a trio ( 1.2 ) of grandis in a 80 g tank, well planted and with a few hideouts. They've been together for about 3 years.

Yesterday I had to separate them. The male was way too agressif. Patch off skin is missing from both female ( I know it's not a fight from both females )

No significant changes were made with there setup ...

Any thoughts ?

Thanks

Martin

My guess is that your male just mated with both females. It gets really rough and usually the females walk away wounded. Hopefully you'll get eggs in 3 weeks or so.

I've seen bite marks, and small patches around the neck while mating ... But none like these.

So far this season, each female laid 2 clutches.

i lost a female a year ago to mating agression, just keep an eye on them, if they are injured just keep an eye in it, and if severe get some antibiotics.
she was also about 20-30 % smaller than the male( he is a big boy...)
so watch for size differences.
