Tokay Geckos Eating

ztous May 23, 2006 09:04 PM

How big of prey could a full grown Tokay eat? Mine is only about 8" and my thumb could easily fit into his mouth so I was wondering if a full grown male could eat a small mouse (not a pinkie)

Although a full grown tokay can surely eat a small mouse, the mouse has the ability to bite the tokay, which could prove harmful to it. Pinkies haven't developed teeth yet, so pose no danger. just my thoughts.

I think a full grown mouse would be pushing it, not to say the Tokay wouldn't try. I've seen them shred large pinkies and rat pinkies into pieces shaken them. I once had a small baby snatch a rat pinkie from a adult and although it took awhile it managed to swallow the whole thing, it was very proud of it's catch and carried it around for awhile. The baby did survive that ordeal.

My tokay can take hopper mice. He is about 8". I don't know how he does it but he digests them.
