Can a rubber boa really be kept in a 10 gallon tank its whole life, without any heat? I've heard that somewhere else, and just wanted to find out if it's really true. I might consider getting one when the fish in my 10 gallon die, but I find it really hard to believe that they can live like that. Thanks

Thanks, that site is very helpful. I still can't believe that they can be kept in 10 gallons or even 5 gallons, but I sure am happy about it

I'll probably get one once I do more research, especially research about quarantining, since this will be my second snake and will likely be in the same room as my kingsnake.

Also, I saw that they're a little less willing to eat than my kingsnake probably is. Will they take frozen at all? I'm really not into the idea of live mice. Arella is a vicious eater and will eat anything that's warmed up, I just touch it to her nose and the mouse goes right down.

Thanks for the help so far.

Danielle,
Many Rubber Boa will readily take frozen/thawed nestling lab mice, lab rats, deer mice, voles, shrews, moles etc.

I thought that some would but any that I've seen up for sale and what not need their mice to be hidden alive or brained for them to eat.

I'm not in any hurry, but if anyone has or comes across any rubber boas for sale that are eating well and aren't hatchlings I'd really appreciate it if you'd let me know. I do have to look over quaratining first though.

Thanks

I have yearling captive bred boas near seattle, washington that feed on frozen thawed lab mice. All of them hibernate for several months a year.
