Sindar is gone :0(

PHEve May 31, 2006 11:23 PM

My Sindar, female henkeli has died. Sad, she continued to lay eggs, they were not fertile, but she kept laying. I seperated her from the boys, and gave her calcium syrup , she was having some calcium problems (twitchy feet ) you guys know.

Anyway I thought she was improving, but late last night she appeared weak, I made sure she was hydrated and left her, this morning I saw her looking so pretty on the bottom siting in the sphagnum moss, only to find when I touched her, she had died.

She was a pretty girl, and will be missed, very sad.

that really sucks Eve, all that work you put into them, and now this
You've got two nice males, you'll just have to add to your gecko family and pick up one or two females for them

Thanks buddy!

Ya know , I just have had no luck with the eggs she did have. The only ones that were fertile died in the eggs near the end of incubation (probably too cold that winterat night) bad temps my fault.

I did not cool them either this season, to prepare for breeding. Have been very busy so I figured the most important thing was to take care of them, and not focus on the breeding for now. But she continued to lay eggs. She just layed 1 month ago one egg, then last week I found 2 on the bottom. After that she did not do well.

I also moved my tank since she died to a cooler spot in the house (where I keep the chamelons) figure maybe the temps flucuated a bit where I had them, this is a more constant temp for them.
I will try and get another female maybe this summer or fall, or maybe like you said 2 females. And see what happens this time. I'm just sorry shes gone.

Thanks again!

man, what sad news that is. took so long to finally get eggs from her, but we know how that turned out. well, at least you know she was long-lived and got to have plenty of fun with barkley. it is indeed a sad loss. our hearts go out to you and sindar!

My heart goes out to you... I've lost enough pets (reptiles, birds, mammals, and yes, even fish) to know that it always harts, and the longer an animal is with you, or the more care they might have required, the harder it is. I wish you the best with your future females.
