New U. henkeli hatchling rack

jmorris Jun 18, 2006 02:08 AM

after consulting with many experinced keepers, I've settled on this system.

Those are 20Qt (5 Gallon) sterilite tubs with custom front opening doors, and side vents. They are all plumbed to a ultrasonic humidifier, with valves allowing me to humidify some and leave others dry. Each row is illuminated by a standard 2x 40w shop light.

I will be putting cork on the back wall (when it gets here), pothos in the half pot on the side wall, snake plant in a pot on the floor of the cage, with bamboo polls for them to move about on. I will put a cushy layer of sphagnum moss on the floor, for impact protein in case of a dive bomb, and for humidity retention, this layer can be cheaply and easily changed as it gets too soiled.

Let me know what you think.

very nice, i think this setup is perfect. i believe that all hatchlings and juvs should be housed individual, good for you for taking the correct measures for the geckos well being and not just cramming a ton of them in a ten gallon.
more people should take notes on these setups, good luck when the eggs start popping.

this is just my strong opinion
thanks Brad

Thanks for the kind words. Any other opinions or comments? Maybe a good luck wish or two?
