Blue tailed lizard??

legendofcqy Jun 25, 2006 01:48 PM

I live in North Central Texas, and today I saw, in my front yard, a small (2 1/2 to 3 inches)lizard-like reptile running from an area planted with small plants. This animal ran a bit like a gecko (body shifting side-to-side), but from the head to midbody it looked nearly black, and the back half of the creature was a royal blue color. Never seen a lizard or gecko that color. Anyone know what it was and the type?

The young of Eumeces have blue tails. The Great Plains Skink occurs in your area.
