Stebbind 3rd Ed. Publishing Ooops

FunkyRes Jun 28, 2006 03:45 AM

Hi - I recently bought the 3rd edition of the Stebbins field guide to western reptiles and amphibians.

There is a publication mistake - in the map section.

Page 464 is followed directly by Page 497 (map 146) which then goes sequentially through 512 - and then is followed by 465.

Is this a common mistake?
If not - I may try to buy a "correct" one for my bookshelf and use this one in my backpack - if they are all are like that, it's a little disapointing.

I know this is an old post. My copy of the third edition is correct in the sequence of pages and maps. I have found no editorial discrepencies. My only disapointment is that the field guide ommits many subspecific taxons citeing the need for further research. This information may be crucial in that different states differ in what they do and do not recognise. When considering taxonomy I cross refrence all editions of the field guide along with other sources.
