Oreophis porphyraceus coxi is a truly stunning species of ratsnake that I am definitely planning to keep in the future. Thank you for all the great shots of your hatchlings!

What beautiful little hatchlings! They all match and are a stunning colour. So all nine hatched? Have any shed or eaten yet? My 18 baby corns hatched at the end of June/beginning of July but I'm waiting for my trinket eggs to hatch and expecting that they may be harder to get eating than corns, so I'd be interested to hear your experiences. Thanks for the lovely pictures!

Oh, and also, how many days did they incubate for, out of interest? I'm not sure whether to expect my trinket hatchlings to pip at 60 days like my corns - of course coxi may well be completely different from trinkets but a website I found said 45-70 days for coxi - rather a wide range, so I wondered, as I've heard pretty wide ranges given for trinkets too. I guess it depends on temperature.

Yup, all 9 hatched. 2 needed to be slit and had deformities. 1 has a slight kink and is doing great the other I contemplated putting down because it looks like it is struggling trying to move about...but is approaching another shed and still alive. The eggs incubated at 79-81 degrees for approx 60 days. I think if I averaged up my yearly incubations it would be right around that mark. Most have eaten f/t, only 2 and the 1 deformed one haven't eaten. Sometimes they can be tricky, but patience is the key with hatchlings....especially ones that are noted for not eating eagerly right away.

Good luck w/ the corns and trinkets

Thanks again

Thanks. I'll hope to see my babies around 60 days too then - I'm incubating at about 83. Good luck with the babies and hope the little deformed one eats for you after it sheds.

They are spectacular. Where can I get some in the USA? Are there any US breeders?

I'm pretty sure Chris got out of coxi. Chad Fuchs, aka cfsnakes.com, breeds them as well. Hopefully I will breed them. That is if I can get my second clutch to actually be fertile.
