I am new with DHL's. I have had one of them for 3 months and he is healthy looking. My other 2 I just got a few days ago and they are not as fat. (yet) I just want to know how long it will be before I know if I am successful at keeping these guys. In other words, how many months of keeping them will let me know.

A year is a good estimate, although you will continue to learn for a few years at least. If you can keep them alive for more than a few months you will know you are on the right track. And that is assuming you received healthy HL's from the start.
Good luck!
