gaboons question!!

angusticeps Aug 10, 2006 06:51 PM

Hello,
what is the suitable rate of humidity to gaboons? low or high?
A friend of mine who works with venomous said me gaboons died because of lungs problems induced by a low humidity... but I ´ve read gaboons die because they, when are captured, are full of lungs parasites. Other friend says me the humidity must be low. what can I do? Is it true the gaboons die? why?
At the moment,I give them a humidity higher than lower. Anyway, it is necessary spray them to drink.
I´m very confused and intriguer. Cheers!

I keep mine at about 60% or higher. I have an automatic misting system by ProProducts that works perfectly to keep everybody happy. I will sometimes mist my Gabby to water her but I have seen her head to the waterdish on her own too.

I suggest you get the current issue of Reptiles Magazine (Oct. 2006). There is a very good article on Keeping Gaboon by Gregg Madden.

Good Luck,

Al
