Anole with a strange snout growth?

jonnyhicks Aug 13, 2006 04:27 PM

Male anole (CB 9 months old, had him for 4 months)

(See image)He has developed over the last week a strange lump/growth/scab on his snout.

Has anyone got any ideas of what it might be.

He's still drinking and i've seen him eat a couple of crickets.

He is still displaying to the females (3 CB females in tank with him)

Is he able to get too close to his light/heat bulbs? May be that he has burned himself?

I read something recently about Bot flies laying eggs under the skin, do you have bot flies this time of year?

Otherwise he may haver had a fall (Mine drop out of their branches almost daily), and bumped his face?

heat source is above the wire mesh at the top of the tank, so I guess that rules a burn out. No bot flies around this part of the UK. So I guess he's probably had a bump or scrape.

I caught my anoles mating today....wonder if there'll be any miniatures kicking about the viv?

Fortunately I have a reptile shop that jumped at the idea of having our babies if we can hatch them. Good luck with your anole, hope he feels better soon
