Somethings going on.. but what??

Rouen Aug 16, 2006 12:55 PM

I've been incubating 4 eastern painted turtle eggs for 60 days now and up until 10 days ago everything looked fine, then one of them pipped I know that hatch dates aren't set in stone or anything and it is now the time when they can hatch any time, so I wasn't too suprised, but I was suprised that he's still not hatched, he's still alive but in the egg and now has a crack about half way around the egg???
and another egg today looks like it pipped but no fluid is on the outside of the egg?? it looks withered and I have no idea if that little one is alive..

this isn't my first time hatching painted but I am at a loss, they all looked perfect and now it's just weird.. any ideas??
there is no mold or anything..

As far as I know it may be related to improper humidity. This may sometimes cause eggs to shrivel up and bring worry to the breeder/owner. I hope this helps. Let me know how it's going.
