Get a young, healthy, captive-bred animal, and handle it a lot from a young age, that's the quickest way to tame them down when they get older, unless you want a really angry one, in that case, I'd recommend a big, wc male, they're always a lot of fun. Just stay away from the sharp end.
They like to eat a lot, they also need a roomier cage than a lot of people think, the more room they have, the happier they are. They also breed quite readily in captivity, and show some really cool pairing behavior, if you can get a pair. Good luck, they're my favorite gecko by far.
