Elaphe helena hatchlings

Jessica71 Aug 31, 2006 06:37 PM

I posted back in June when my female trinket laid four eggs as her first small clutch, two of which looked good, one of which was a definite slug and the fourth of which looked iffy. I threw the latter two away at the end of July as they were going mouldy. Then the weekend just gone, the two good ones hatched at 74-75 days! Here are the hatchlings. They're gorgeous - let's hope they'll eat for me!

Thanks guys! Will definitely keep you updated. At least with only two I don't have to make excuses for keeping them both!

Congrats! I remember your post, sorry the iffy egg didn't make it. Luckily the other two were perfect! I've seen some babies at shows, they look so small I don't know how they eat pinks. Good luck with feeding!

Thanks! I didn't keep the iffy egg right till the end, but as it smelt and leaked almost immediately I was pretty sure it was a bad one, and then it got worse and got a blackish mould on it so I threw it out. I'm sure it was bad. Anyway, yes the hatchlings are small and look all vulnerable because they're in shed. Looking forward to trying them with a pinky once they've shed! I'll keep you posted.

Thanks,

Jessica
