Look closely and tell me if you see anything special in these siblings.

I am sure you guys are curious about what is special about them.

Try to guess?

The color is stunning. Especially the tri color one. Ya painted the little sucker didn't ya?

It also looks like it has lepodigaster bars on it's back. Did you get 2 species to breed? So many people ask if you can cross these two.

No I didn’t paint them, and they are not crosses.

I hatched many of these thinking they where capra’s, however Manthey assured me they are an un-described specie.

All the babies hatched as brown animals, now they all seem to be developing there own color, I have not two similar lizards.

Iv been a member of a Chinese herp society for a few years, and when I first saw these photos of this blue and this yellow acanthosaura, I remember saying wow these have good color possibilities, of course I didn’t know what they where, I tot they where simply colourful capra’s.

I have to say that lately iv seen incredible specimens of this species, one in particular is pink. From what I see any color morphs can be seen in a clutch, my females where plain looking lizards.

I have a feeling this forum will become very popular in a near future.

Please keep us posted. They are beautiful. Just can't get over the colors. Are you going to keep them for breeding?

FroggieB Sep 11, 2006 12:35 PM

Jobi, are these two the parents or are they older offspring?

What beautiful animals! I would have guessed the same as Bonnie if I had seen your post sooner. I was off most of the weekend. I am on the pc all week long and sometimes it is nice to just take the weekend off and spend it with my hubby and the lizards!

Sorry for the confusion! These are not my lizards (except babies), I only posted them so that you can see the color variation. They are the same specie I have at present.

To answer bonnie; unfortunately I sold a lot before I new what they where, I kept 20 hatchlings as future breeders. I should be able to produce a few color morphs by the second generation, one thing for sure! It can only get better from here on.

Marcia?
Is it possible to have a high resolution body photo of capra, preferably lateral view showing the scales of body and back leg. Manthey showed me how to ID the sub-species.

Thanks

I'll see what I can do. My camera is 6-megapixal so should be able to do it if I can make the lizard cooperate!
