Can somebody please help????

cbjellybean Sep 11, 2006 12:52 AM

Hello, I have a baby florida soft shell.I've had him for 3 weeks and he's been doing great. I have him in a tank with 2 sliders and some fish. I woke up this morning and my fish have ick, so I called a pet store who sells aquatic turtles to see if they get ick and the gut said no. He told me to remove the turtles and treat the tank until they are healed. Then I can put the turtles back. I removed the turtles and went to the store. When I came home I noticed the soft shell was acting funny so I picked him up to look at him and I saw it. He has yellowish white on 2 feet and his belly. He's now acting really sick. Does anyone know if he has ick or something else? This little guy went through hell to find my husband and I want to give him a chance at life. Can somebody help me?
Thank You,
Jenny Kellar

He may have a fungal infection. You need to get a proper diagnosis (which we really cannot give you on this forum).
The best thing to do is try and find a good herp vet and get the animal there for a proper diagnosis.

Good luck

My softshell got very sick with red streaks...I took him to the vets where my dog goes and even though they didn't have much info on softshells, the vet was able to treat him with antibotics (I gave him injections for three weeks)and he recovered completely...even though he looked like he would die....also, make sure he has a ramp with a uv light....for basking...they need this to heal themselves...really works...I have a Powersun uv...100w....I can't stress this enough for their health and recovery
