New Lizards/What species?

Tarentola Sep 12, 2006 01:23 AM

Hi, I pickd up 2 of these beautiful lizards last week. They were labled leopard lizards. They have faint spots all over their torso. They have pointed snouts, and fringed toes. They are in a 10 gallon and enjoy mealworms. I have made the sand hard so they created a burrow complex in the sand.(very cool lizards, really neat behaviour. Really active and at the beginning would jump at their screen lid.

They are very healthy and have full tails and perfect toes no scars etc, so I am thinking they could be cbb.

The Pic is too blurry, to say more, but this is either an Eremias or an Acanthodactylus species. May be A. scutellatus, A. boskianus, E. grammica or ......impossible to say more from such a blurry pic.
But definitely NOT Gambelia -or any new world species.

hope that helps

lol. No kidding, I definatly knew they weren't long nose leopard lizards, i heard their were 5 species so I had them as leopards.

Thanks for the help Ingo, I know the pics are horrible, my parents bought me a camera with no warantty and didn't know I'd like a macro function, not to mention it says for clears pics be at least 2.6 meters away, lol.

I'm leaning towards A.scutellatus, same fringed toe, body has the same texture look, similar legs, and ihave noticed the dip a little bit befor the tail starts, only like that early in the morning.

Thanks Ingo.
