Fowler Toad care

Redbean Sep 19, 2006 11:41 AM

Alright, outside we found a Fowler toad. While we were planning on eventually getting the boys a frog or toad in the first place, why look a gift horse in the mouth. We put him in an aquarium, added dirt, and a fake log left over from the fish tank, and a small thing of water. So here's the question.....

I know they eat crickets and such, or this one does anyway. How often and how much do they eat. I understand when they eat. Can anyone help me out there? I also heard every few days you're supposed to sprits them with water. Any advice?

My fowlers toad eats 1-2 crickets every night. Some people feed thiers every other night. I prefer to feed mine every night.

You should mist the cage 1-2 times a day to keep it moist. Mine doesn't like water being sprayed directly on her, but if you keep a water dish and the bedding wet, it should be fine. You should make sure the dish is large enough for it to lay in, but no more then 1/2 inch deep.

also- you may want to get some plants to put in the tank. They enjoy hiding in and under the plants.

If you have any more questions I'd be happy to answer what I can.
