My Fowlers toad eats 1 cricket every night. Some nights (like tonight) she won't eat at all. She uses the bathroom very rarely, she will go for a week or two at a time without going sometimes.
But last night she went in her water dish (warm water, so it broke up more) and there were whole cricket heads, wings, and a couple legs. I have never noticed this before, and was wondering if it was normal? I felt a lump in her side a couple nights ago, but then it went away, so I'm assuming it was her feces.

Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

hi again, pooping in the water dish is normal, a lot of my stuff poops in the water dish more than anywhere else. all of the nasty stuff you see in there is natural.

Hey! I e-mail you awhile back with pics of the tadpoles, don't know if you got it or not.

Ok, I was just worried because when I first got her, someone told me that if there where whole peices of crickets in her stool then someing was wrong. Yeah, I'm kind of glad she poops in the water dish, its easyer to find and clean up .

Thank you once again!!

i'm pretty sure i didn't get the e-mail about the tads, i think it got lost somewhere. where do they go? well, if that person was right then i guess there's something wrong with my 25 herps, cause they all poop in the water.

Every toad I have had whent in their water dish as well, also they could not digest the outside cricket parts. I do belive that is normal

Thank you for the information! I really appreciate it.

She hasn't eaten in 2 nights, so I'm going to have to keep an eye on her. But other then that, she seems to be doing great!

Otis- I will re-send the e-mail... There have been a ton of Tree frogs around the yard this year since I raised all those. 2 live in our shed, and I found one in our laundry room this morning. Its amazing.

Thanks! Heather

i wouldn't worry too much if she didn't eat. i would feed mine sometimes once every week and a half. you feed yours a lot, maybe she's full. i'm jeoluos (spelling =?), theres practically no wildlife where i live, allthough, yesterday i found a baby snapping turtle in a pond by some business complexes and like 10 feet from the parking lot, so i moved it to a nature place. i named it Timmy, he was adorable!

just reading this thread has given me help. i caught a fowler's toad for my son for his birthday this year and i was especially curious about the pooping because it so rarely happens. one thing i didn't see that i was wondering about is if they are supposed to shed because Esme (that's her name) seems to have shed some skin about a week and a half ago and didn't eat for the couple days that it happened during.

It is normal for a frog not to eat while its shedding, but it is abnormal that it took so long for your frog to shed. Reptiles can take up to a week or two to completely shed, but most amphibians complete the shed within an hour, usually less. So you have to look at things that could be slowing down its shed, such as humidity. I would spray the little dude and see if it helps, sometimes even if they have a waterdish they will need to be misted for some reason.
