Fruit Flies? Anyone else has this issue?

iknowyoulike Sep 25, 2006 10:31 PM

Hey Guys this is my first post...I've had my Albino pac man frog for about 6 months now and he's seems happy. He eats regularly seems to be in good shape i feed him crickets(dusted) as a primary source of food with a live mouse once a month.

My issue is that in his 10 gallon tank there is a number of fruit flies it looks like flying around inside the tank. Is there any way i can get rid of them..or any ideas as too how and why they would be around his tank..? could it be the moisture? anyone else ever experience this? I clean his tank regularly,

I just don't like having them in my room, it seems that they stay in the tank with him then occiaionally they fly around my room and it's really annoying...i would just like to find a way to get rid of them.

They are probably not fruit flies but are fungus gnats, these are harmless but annoying.

They are often hard to eliminate as live in the bedding as long as it is moist and will colonize the tank from outside or even plant pots in the house.

Often there is a bloom of the these guys initially but then they disappear after a few weeks.
