I have a 75 gallon setup, can't seem to get the heat up!!It's alittle over 90 at one end,90 and a little more at the other. Basking rock I like to keep a little hotter, its 110ish , 106,depending on where i hit it with the temp gun. They seem to like it, run up onto it, throw out a leg and sorta ahhh, nice. They warm up, and cruise around the cage some, grabbing a few ants. But , it still concerns me as to the 105 one end, 85 the other end, idea. Was thinking of getting one of the Coils, to maybe boost it some,or maybe closing in the top some with foil, to sorta keep some of the heat in?.Appreciate any ideas , scott.

In a cage this size certianly the ploacement of the bulbs, is important but I am thinking, that if you had 150 watt T-rex mercury vapor or equivelant with a Zoomed 100watt on the hot side and in the center a 75 watt bulb should give you the desired affect.

You may need to up the center bulb if necessary. The basking bulbs I would use floods and not spots, because light intensity is very important as well as heat gradient.

If the lite does have a lot of cover then this might be a tad hot, but if it is a screen top then this configuration should be pretty close to what would bring the desired affect. Of course the cool end would have no lighting. Again depending on the top and temps of the room you have this in, you may have to up the middle bulb and or the bulb next to the mercury vapor.
