Along with that group of 4 chinese beauties I ordered from that random person, I also orded a pair of these.. Which turned out both male. *sigh* Well they're still cool animals, just need to keep an eye out for a female now.

Nice! They are a really cool species.
I've heard of someone seeing a large enough one in the wild to strike you in the face while you are standing. Hard to believe but that comes from a reliable source. Thats a hell of a thought isn't it. Actually thats the kind of thing that makes me want a pair or two. Randy W.

If I am thinking of the same source, that would be Ptyas carinata, not E. carinata. However, I would not be surprised if both species were capable of such a feat.

I read that comment and was going to say the same thing until I saw your post. However, I've looking into E. carinata after seeing some the first time a couple years ago. Adult size for E. carinata is only up to about 4 feet or so, while the Ptyas carinatus [not carinata as a lot of people seem to get confused], can get over 10 feet long. Quite a difference. I'd suspect that the E. carinata, with the common name of 'Stinking Goddess Snake' is more likely to defecate on you than jump up and tag your face. Still, really cool snakes though. Oh, for some feisty Ptyas though!

Oh yeah - my post was not directed at you Chris, I know you know that info already - I was trying to post a general reply to any interested parties but I left some key words out. Anyway, whatever... I'm tired and it's late. Who knows, I MIGHT pick up some E. carinata myself at the Tinley show if I see any.
