how often do they "musk"

how often do musks release their defensive smell? is it often? or is it a rare thing? how bad is it? would it stink up a house? a room?

I've had mine for 5 years. They were raised in captivity since they hatched. THey are now 8 years old. They have never musked me. So I can't answer the other questions. I think it is a response to being scared, like a skunk. Mine are used to me, or I'm just very lucky. They must be used to me. I've never been very "lucky".
