Does it hurt when they bite? Seriously

dragonTaTu Oct 04, 2006 06:05 PM

Try to refrain from from laughing long enough to answer my question. I have been fortunate enough to have never been bitten by any snake. I have a young cali king, "16-"17, that is becoming adjusted to a new cage, so he is acting out and striking at my hand. I had a ball python years ago that mistakingly caught my hand once during feeding, but he didn't latch on, so I don't count that. Anyways, I am just curious. lol. thanks

If a big king gets you it can hurt, but a snake the size of yours you really don't have to worry about it. Regardless of whether it hurts or not, however, any snake bite should be thoroughly cleaned.

Nope. I've been nailed by a couple that we've caught around the house and released after pictures, and it's not that bad. Startles you, that's for sure, but I've had more painful "bites" from a turkey pecking me.

My little one just mistook my ring finger for a pinky the other night and latched on. She held on for about 5 minutes before I got free. And while it was enough to draw a little blood, it didn't hurt at all. My leopard gecko inflicted much more damage when he was getting shots a while back. Now I've never been bitten by a full grown snake so I can't say anything about that, but a juvi bite doesn't hurt.
