Gila regurgitating

tdk Oct 09, 2006 12:38 PM

I have 3 adult Gials and 2 have now regurgitated mice they have eaten in the past 1 and 1/2 weeks. I have had for about 3 years and never had a problem with this or them eating. Temps. are from about 76 degrees on the cool end to 90-92 degrees on the warm end. I feed thawed frozen mice which I thaw in hot water then feed after draining so that mice are still warm. I have had fecal exams done at the vet. but nothing was found. I've been told to wait for 7 to 10 days until I feed again so that stomach acids have time to rebuild. Should I increase the temp on the warm end? Suggestions please.

In my experience, the usual cause is trying to power feed the animals too much. Your temps sound fine, but check for drafts, wait a couple of weeks and feed a small meal. Keep us posted, my guess is everything will be fine.

I had been feeding twice a week. Once with 2 mice mid-week and once with one end of week. I've fed like that since I've had them. What's your feeding schedule? Thanks, TK

Hmm, that doesn't seem excessive. I feed my females two weaned rat pups usually twice a week. Are you keeping them seperate? Try seperating them and after 10 days feed a single rat pup each. It maybe time to contact your vet again if they continue to regurg. Best of luck.

Yes they have been kept separate.

be WAY off but have you by chance introduced any new animals into your collection recently? And Im talking where the animals are kept, not the cage. Crypto is an vile thing that hides unseen...
