Standing Day Gecko Information

cmscorns Oct 09, 2006 02:05 PM

My wife picked up a gecko labeled as a Standing Day Gecko at the big show in Chicago this past weekend. She has had giant day geckos in her room in the past and like the look of this guy.

Does anyone have any advice or care sheet information on keeping this type of gecko?

OK, what do you want to know...

Humidity- they prefer it to be a bit drier than grandis. Try to keep it above 70% but not too wet. Use a substrate that retains water well.

Basking- temp about 95 degrees F.

Staple diet- crickets (supplement with mealworms and fruit baby food)

Housing- one male and female compatible pair recommended, unless they are hatchlings. The compatible pairs can really become very close, it's sweet.

Mating season- Aprilish-Septemberish

Cage fixin's- bamboo, snake plant(sanseveria), dracaena

They are a great species. They can become really tame over time. I can actually pick mine up out of their cage and hold them and they have been conditioned to beg to come out of their cage to stretch their legs!
