So I just bought a Nikon D50 and cant seem to figure out the settings. When I take a picture it is very bright white
(over exposed I assume) How do I fix this? I am frustrated!

There isn't any way we can help you without knowing what settings you are already using.
Post an example pic. Resize it down to something less than 800 pixels wide so it will fit onscreen, but try not to do anything else to it. If you can post a jpg like this, we will probably be able to retrieve the EXIF data from the photo and figure out exactly what you are doing wrong.
