Anyone feed roaches ?

Lia Oct 14, 2006 05:10 PM

Hi
I feed crickets and wax worms though buy them never cultured any (keep the crickets in 10 gallon tank with egg crates-food,etc) . I was reading about roaches they seem like something anoles would love.

Anyone ever feed them to their anoles or culture them? I was looking into small type not those huge hissers .

I have had crickets hide for a day or so and bite holes in pothos leaves and bamboo leaves. So roaches looked interesting. Not sure if just mostly wings .

I've never used them, but they're supposed to be good feeders if you can find them in an appropriate size. I know people use them with dragons, chams, and even collareds - don't know why they wouldn't work for anoles. They don't smell or make noise from what I understand, but I don't know where you'd get them in a small size. I've only ever seen a couple (both very large) species available.

Thanks the pet store I go to has small type but they look like mostly wings and not easy to culture but figured will give it a try atleast once.

Your right they seem to like them in chamaleon forum (I have chamaleons to) but outside so they eat lots wild insects to .
The anoles are inside in planted tank. Think will try them .

Thanks

But thats only because I used to live in Spain, where we found that they are near impossible to get rid of once they breed in your house, and trust me we had roaches in our house, lol.

I've heard they are very nutritious and things but cant bring myself to do it purely on principle. If they ever got loose in my house I'd freak out, I really dont like their clickety little legs or their....well, I just dont like them, lol

Lol yes they are pretty gross looking but Spain has tiny roaches compared to the Florida huge roaches . Wild roaches in Miami have been known to kill and eat cats lol kidding.

I bought small non flying roaches and must say they love them but breeding them seems like a pain so used them as expensive feeders will use mostly crickets but will feed roaches now and than.
